One of our importers has offered us a very special lot of ready-to-drink 2010 and 2009 Chateau Lascombes, rated 96 points by Robert Parker himself. When news of the 25% tariff hit back in the fall, the importer decided to ease the pain by immediately bringing in a stash of library wines to offer at pre-tariff prices.
Chateau Lascombe is one of Margaux's most famous estates, ranked a 2nd growth. Both 2009 and 2010 are legendary vintages in Bordeaux. The Lascombe blend is generally equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The wines can be overwhelmingly powerful upon release, but are now entering their prime drinking window. Properly stored, they will age another 20 to 25 years. These are truly wines for the ages.
