In the glass, it oozes with Cab Franc pleasure. Aromas of blackberry, cranberry, and raspberry intermingle with fantastic high-toned spices like cedar and white pepper, with a touch of floral violet lift. The palate takes a turn to sweeter dark cherry, with lovely purple-fruited density and a very fine througline of tannin. The acidity, juicy and prominent but never overwhelming, keeps everything eminently refreshing. This is something like my platonic ideal of a daily drinker, with more complexity and impact than you’d expect at this price point, but never demanding to be fussed over.
